The Daüggers formed almost by accident, in an unfinished basement, around a raggedy old drum kit. Dylan korman, the lead singer of the daüggers, had just joined a new friend group, which is how he met Gabe sturz who later became their drummer. Dylan, a guitarist looking to start a band, asked if he wanted to jam sometime— A few days later, the two met up at Gabe's house but it was clear they needed a bass player. Dylan called up Jerrik Miller, a friend he'd met at a random lunch table sophomore year of high school bonding over their shared interest in music. Not long after, they brought in a second guitarist, Jackson Ocel, a coworker of Dylan's who'd mentioned wanting to start a band of his own. With all four finding their role in this project, The Daüggers officially became a band in the early months of 2024.

After hanging out and running through a few covers, Gabe suggested the band play on his birthday that May. they put together a six-song setlist, got right to practicing, and played their first show on May 15th, 2024. While practicing, the group hit a wall trying to land on a band name — until Gabe noticed the jersey Dylan was wearing: his dad's red floor hockey jersey from 1986, printed with the nickname his dad used for his childhood dog, "Chief". gabe asked what it said. Dylan told him: "The Daüggers." and Everyone was sold on the spot.

there are very few bands with the german umlaut, but since the daüggers are minneapolis-based, including the umlaut serves as an ode to the history of minnsota’s rich music scene— specifically siting the local band Hüsker dü as one of the bands their parents loved listening to while growing up.

The daüggers first show was for a crowd of about 50 high school friends back in may of 2024, and it went well enough that they kept going — playing a handful of shows around the twin cities and eventually writing original music. In February 2025, they self-recorded and released their first single, "Flood My Mind". That success set a new goal: to fully self-record an album before the group leaves for college at the end of the summer. They kicked off the summer of 2025 with a packed show at The Driftwood Char Bar on June 6th, which became fuel for the work ahead. Over the following months, the band finished writing, brought in producer Tony Perkins, and recorded the album across a mix of basements and garages. They wrapped production the week before Dylan left for school, uploaded the final tracks, and celebrated with a release show at Dylan's house. The next morning, Dylan left for college, and their debut album, "She's Alright," was officially released. The response was bigger than they expected. Over winter break, with everyone back in town from college, the band played Driftwood's Best Bands of 2025 showcase and set a new attendance record for the venue — debuting their then-unreleased track "Dewey" that night.

In may 2026, the band reunited again for the summer with goals of writing new songs, playing lots of shows and making tons of memories. Gabe flew in on a Saturday night in mid-June, they practiced on Sunday, and by Monday they were playing a sold-out show at Pillar Forum, where they sold their first batch of physical merch: a burned CD featuring "She's Alright" plus three additional tracks. Shortly after, they were invited to play in the backyard of fellow Minneapolis indie rock band Syncline — their biggest crowd yet, and another sellout of both CDs and a limited run of DIY t-shirts. The night felt like a movie— leaving The Daüggers setting new goals and chasing after even bigger dreams. Now that they have a few shows and a full album under their belt, The Daüggers are looking forward to keeping the momentum going, with more music and more shows on the horizon.
